Expansion of the heating plant Wolfgang

Hanau public utilities

Task

A gap in district heat generation appeared for Hanau public utility system with the failure of one of the power plant units of the E.ON Staudinger power station. The expansion of an additional flexibly usable hot water generator at the Wolfgang location was required to secure the necessary supply. Based on the preliminary study carried out by BLS Energieplan, a combination of two boilers was selected, planned and constructed.

Technical data

  • 2 natural gas boilers each with 8.5 MW
  • Pre-supply temperatures during operation: 90 - 130 °C
  • Economizer for the use of exhaust gas

BLS also planned that the new heat exchanger system setup of the Western HP with 12 MW thermal capacity would enable withdrawal of surplus heat from the West to East district in future.
