Feasibility study “Climate Neutral Berlin 2050”

Task

The Senate Administration for Urban Development and Environment Berlin awarded a feasibility study "Climate Neutral Berlin 2050." This study is to examine the basic feasibility of the Berlin climate neutrality goal and to present an opinion about roughly outlined implementation scenarios.

In cooperation with and under the lead of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) and five other companies, the following fields of action were investigated:

  • Power generation
  • Building & urban development
  • Economy
  • Transportation
  • Private households/consumption

For each subsection, inventory data were collected, scenarios created and recommendations for actions elaborated.

BLS Energieplan GmbH was significantly involved in processing such field of actions as power generation, building and urban development.
