Overhaul of the animal facility Max Delbrück Centrum House 63

The Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in Berlin-Buch planned the renewing and retrofitting of building 63 used as an animal facility with the goal to safeguard operation of the facility for the next 10 years. The building is an animal facility for specific pathogen free (SPF) animal keeping with laboratories of protection level 2 (mice and rats). Main usable area is approx. 1,200 m².

• Complete renewal of media supply (natural gas, CO₂, compressed air, de-ionized water, soft water) system
• Partial renewal of the water and waste water systems
• Partial renewal of the heat supply (total heating capacity approx. 320 kW) and ventilation (total air flow rate approx. 35,000 m³/h) systems
• Partial renewal and extension of lab and washing facilities
• Partial renewal of high voltage installations (total power demand: 600 kVA)
• Partial renewal and extension of structured cabling: application-neutral according to DIN EN 50173
• Partial renewal of measurement and control-related equipment
• Production costs for TGA (net): about € 1.4 million
