Gas-fired CHP plant Helmshäger Berg
The turbine CHP plant Greifswald was planned by BLS Energieplan in 1990. As part of the comprehensive turbine revision it was examined whether to install a gas turbine or a motor. The motor is more advantageous because of its higher electrical efficiency, among others.

Central energy facility South, Max Delbrück Center
The Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in Berlin-Buch replaces and expands its central systems for supplying and distributing heat, cold and electricity.
Against this background, BLS Energieplan GmbH plans a combined heat, power and cooling system with absorption and compression refrigeration systems as well as CHP modules for providing steam, hot water and electric energy.
The cold water distribution network on the premises of the Max Delbrück Center is being modernised and expanded.
Installed cooling capacity: approx. 3.5 MW
Installed thermal capacity: approx. 1.2 MW
Installed capacity of self-generated power: approx. 1.1 MW

Gas and steam turbine power plant

Gas and steam turbine power plant for Coffein Compagnie
The Coffein Compagnie (AG) plans to construct a gas and steam turbine power plant at the production site in Bremen in order to optimise its energy supply. According to a preliminary study, the plant will consist of a gas turbine with a capacity of 7.5 MW and a steam turbine with an electrical capacity of 0.7 MW.
BLS Energieplan was commissioned to carry out the planning and the construction supervision for this plant. The contract covers all planning services for the technical equipment and project management which are necessary for implementing the project. (Fig. left)

Airport Berlin Brandenburg International BBI
E.ON edis AG applied to be contractor together with a team to supply heat, cold, electricity and emergency power to the Airport Berlin Brandenburg International BBI. BLS Energieplan worked as a planner in this team. In awarding the contract to E.ON edis AG, BLS Energieplan became the planning office for the complete power generation within the largest project of the Berlin-Brandenburg area. Especially the concept for the combined heat, power and cooling can be considered unique in its content and size of the central cooling plant in Germany and its neighbouring countries. (Fig. left)

Modernisation of the district heating network in Berlin-Gropiusstadt
The district heating network set up in the Gropiusstadt Berlin in the 1960s in parallel to building up this part of the city is being modernised by its owner, GbR Fernheizung Gropiusstadt, step by step in the next 10 years.
BLS Energieplan was commissioned by the operating company EKT GmbH to carry out the planning and construction management of this project. (Fig. left)

Construction of a new district heating network in Garching
BLS Energieplan GmbH was commissioned by EWG-Energiewende Garching to carry out the planning for developing a district heating network not far from the major airport Franz Josef Strauss and connecting the city of Garching, the Technical University of Munich and different commercial buildings. The project has a construction time of 5 years. The energy to be distributed via the district heating network will largely be generated by renewable energy sources, such as geothermal energy and biomass.

ENERGY CONSULTING

EUREF
BLS Energieplan GmbH was commissioned to prepare the energy concept for one of the largest development areas on the former GASAG premises in Berlin-Schöneberg. The centrepiece of the development will be the foundation of a private university for energy research - EUREF - which also lent its name to the entire development area.
More than 100,000 m² of office space, floor area and hotel space will be built by 2015. The requirements of the concept are to realise the first CO2-free energy supply for an office and business park. If implemented this would be the first project of this type in Europe.
BLS Energieplan GmbH made different analyses based on deep geothermal energy with an integrated combined heat and power generation plant or a heat pump. The favoured options all have a CO2 neutral supply on the basis of a combined heat, power and cooling generation in common. BLS Energieplan GmbH provides support throughout the project ranging from the assessment of the different options to the favoured option by incorporating a geological survey report. The decision taken in favour of a certain system will depend on the drilling depths (1,000 to 3,500 m) and the system-oriented view in terms of building services engineering. The implementation of the concept is planned for 2011 depending on the progress of construction work.

Gas-fired CHP plant with steam generation - Prinovis Dresden
BLS Energieplan  prepared a feasibility study on optimising the energy supply on the premises of Prinovis Dresden. The study demonstrated that the energy generation by a CHP plant on the site is more economical than the current energy supply.
Alternatively, the study compared the use of a gas turbine combined with a steam accumulator with a CHP plant as a possible solution.

Construction of a primary school and sports hall in
Hohen Neuendorf - plus energy building

EnEff: Schule - Plusenergieschule Hohen Neuendorf

The city of Hohen Neuendorf is constructing a primary school with three parallel classes in each year group as well as a sports hall with three fields, designed as an all-day school for school and after-school use with an integrated food supply.
The energy goals of the project are being implemented by the planning team in designing the building in such a way as to make a CO2-neutral operation and a positive energy balance possible. (Fig. left)

Office, residential and hotel building EUREF
BLS Energieplan GmbH plans the buildings currently being constructed on the EUREF premises. At the moment, this involves a new office building which will be exemplary because of taking into account different environmental standards. The implementation of the standards will be controlled by a monitoring concept.

Construction of a laboratory building on the premises of the Rhine barracks (Rhein-Kaserne) Koblenz
BLS Energieplan has been commissioned to realise the engineering of the technical building equipment for the trades 1 to 8 according to § 51 HOAI (German fee regulation for architects and engineers) and to plan the construction of a laboratory on the premises of the Rhine barracks Koblenz (while meeting the requirements of accredited national testing laboratories). The building will house laboratory areas for medicine, veterinary medicine and food chemistry. The project will have a gross floor area of approx. 4,000 m2 with around 60 laboratory units (S1/S2).

Seminar- und Tagungshotel Superior*** des Bildungszentrums Erkner e. V. (superior seminar and conference hotel of the training centre in Erkner)
As the technical systems have been operated since the middle of the 1990ies and since the resulting maintenance and renewal requirements of single components are increasing and in order to optimise the operating costs, the potential to help save energy must be recognised and evaluated.
The energy efficiency consulting shows weak points in terms of energy performance and is backed up by specific action plans for energy aspects and cost-effective improvements.
